FGV organizes 2017 LAGPA Annual Conference

The 2017 Annual Conference of the Latin American Group for Public Administration (LAGPA) was held on September 11-13 in the city of Lima, Peru. The event was sponsored by Universidad del Valle (Colombia) and Universidad ESAN (Peru), in collaboration with Fundação Getulio Vargas, through the Executive Secretary of the LAGPA – regional branch of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS).

The main panel was headlined by the Dean of Universidad del Valle and current President of LAGPA, Edgar Varela Barrios, the President of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) and International Director of FGV, Bianor Cavalcanti, the General Director of the IIAS, Sofiane Sahraoui, the Dean of Universidad ESAN of Peru, Jorge Talavera, and the President of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration, José R. Castelazo.

The event brought together Public Administration experts from countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Peru to discuss three topics: ‘Corruption in the public and private sectors;’ ‘New rights and implications for governance and public policies;’ and ‘The emergence of neo-protectionism in a liberalized market environment.’

The conference also included a Special Session on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by José R. Castelazo, alongside representatives from Colombia, Costa Rica, and Peru.

Finally, there was a protocol visit with the directors of the IIAS, IASIA, LAGPA, and Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae (UCSS) to the General Secretary of Foreign Relations of Peru, Ambassador Eric Anderson Machado, at Torre Tagle Palace – the main office of Peru’s Chancellery and Ministry of Foreign Relations – to discuss details regarding the Joint IASIA and LAGPA Conference to be held on July 23-26, 2018, supported by the Public Service Agency of Peru and UCSS.
