Library

Mario Henrique Simonsen Library 

Students at FGV schools in Rio de Janeiro have access to the services and collection offered by the Mario Henrique Simonsen Library. The space offers vast material focused on the areas of social sciences, administration, economics, political science, law, finance, history of brazil, mathematics and sociology.  

The library has two reading rooms, one in the FGV Cultural Center Building and the other on the 7th floor of the Headquarters Building. The structure of the location is composed of tables and rooms available for individual or collective use. 

The collection, which is constantly being renewed, comprises 105,490 titles and 225,975 items, distributed among books, DVDs, videos, electronic publications, theses and dissertations, sound recordings, as well as periodical publications in paper and electronics. 

You can check the online catalog and the FGV Academic Collection on the website, in addition to having access to the collections of the other two FGV libraries (SP, DF) and the Digital Library.

Headquarters Building

FGV Cultural Center  

The FGV Cultural Center opened in 2013 and is part of the architectural complex designed by Oscar Niemeyer especially for Fundação Getulio Vargas in the 1950s.  

Located on Praia de Botafogo, the space is connected to the Oscar Niemeyer Tower by a large esplanade. The buildings have two towers and two basements, with almost 45,000 m² of built area.  

The Cultural Center has study rooms, auditoriums and space for exhibitions, distributed among the three floors. The central block integrates the auditorium with the space for events, which can operate simultaneously and have modern audio and video infrastructure.  

Part of the Mario Henrique Simonsen Library is located in the Cultural Center, and offers acoustic coating, two reading rooms, a computer lab with computers connected to the Internet and a printing and photocopying service for the foundation's student and faculty community.

Restaurants

In the FGV Headquarters Building, students, professors and employees have access to snack stands on the pilotis, a snack bar, and a restaurant with capacity for more than 200 people.

Cafeteria hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 9pm, and 7am to 12pm on Saturdays 

Restaurant hours: Open for lunch Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm 

Classrooms

All FGV classrooms are designed and equipped following a high standard of comfort and quality to meet all the needs of the institution's students and professors. The spaces are air-conditioned and can accommodate 45 to 70 students, depending on each model.  

Classrooms are well lit, with Datashow, computers connected to the network, screen for projections and whiteboard. They also have chairs within ergonomic standards and have infrastructure to receive people with disabilities or reduced mobility. 

 

Auditoriums

The FGV Headquarters Building has eight auditoriums for classes, events, seminars and workshops, in addition to an auditorium on the 12th floor, available for events or complementary activities, with capacity for up to 174 people, if necessary. 

FGV also has an auditorium in its Cultural Center, which is part of the architectural ensemble conceived by Oscar Niemeyer and completed by the architect's nephew, João Niemeyer. The building, opened in 2013, has a large and modern auditorium with a capacity for 300 people. 
 

Study rooms

In the Headquarters Building, study rooms located on the 4th, 8th and 9th floors are available to students of all Undergraduate courses. For the use of some rooms, it may be necessary to go to the Secretariat in advance to check the availability of schedules.  

The Roberto Campos Building has 6 study rooms located on the first floor, with a capacity for 5 students each. For its use, it is necessary to schedule 24 hours in advance by filling out a form provided by the Unit's Room Center (NGSA). 

The FGV Cultural Center also offers spaces for studies at the Mario Henrique Simonsen Library, in addition to rooms with Wi-Fi and computers available for the institution's students. 

Computer Labs

The Headquarters Building has computer labs located on the 8th, 10th and 13th floors. In all labs, computers are connected to the network and the multifunction printer. 

The Ministro Roberto Campos Building has two computer labs, one in room 104 and the other on the ground floor. 

In the FGV Cultural Center building, the Mario Henrique Simonsen Library is equipped with a computer lab with 20 computers available for study and 12 computers for access by library users.
