Event proposes debate on Angola’s challenges amid global financial and economic order

Fundação Eduardo dos Santos (FESA), from Angola, held the 21st Technical-Scientific Journey from October 24 - 27. The event, with the theme ‘Angola in light of the current global financial and economic order’, was attended by the Executive Manager of FGV’s Center for Cooperation with Africa and Portugal (NuCAP) and International Affairs Division (DINT), professor Marcus Vinicius Rodrigues, who was one of the lecturers on the panel that discussed structural transformations in the world.

Professor Marcus Vinícius spoke about the ‘Economic Integration as a goal for the pursuit of knowledge: Globalization; New Paradigms; Competitiveness; Technological Advances; Innovation.’ The discussions on the subject also included Zhou Jinyan, Director of the Institute of West Asian and African Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Daniel Traça, President of the New School of Business and Economics of the New University of Lisbon.

The event featured three panels that introduced and discussed 15 themes. The discussions included the structural transformations in the world, as well as the major challenges of global economy and their reflexes on the African continent and the current situation of the Angolan economy. In addition to Marcus Vinícius, who represented Brazil, the event was attended by lecturers from Portugal, the USA and China, as well as members of the Executive branch of Angola, Defense and Security organizations, and the Diplomatic Corps.

FESA’s Technical-Scientific Journeys consist of conferences about current economic, social, environmental, and technological issues, featuring guest experts from all over the world and with the collaboration of several national and international organizations.
